A New Non-Judgemental Approach to Recovery
Jost Sauer founded Urban Drug Rehab as a hub for 21st century recovery. He drew on his own past of speed and alcohol addiction, his many years of work in drug and alcohol counselling, and more than 30 years of in-depth research into Chinese medicine and healing lifestyles, to develop his unique approach to recovery.
Jost doesn’t believe addiction is a disease. People are on the right track to want more from life than normality and recovery is an opportunity to discover how to do this in a sustainable way.
Chi-Hab not Rehab
People take drugs because they want to feel extraordinary in some way. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, recreational drugs activate internal resources, known as ‘chi’ to create heightened states. So Jost developed a ‘chi-hab’ rather than rehab approach. His programs are experiential, the motivational training, the food, supplements, and therapies all build chi and / or make chi move.
This recovery approach is completely unique. It works with the ‘Chi Cycle Lifestyle’, a way of living developed by Jost that makes every day feel extraordinary. Jost wrote the first book popularising the Chi Cycle lifestyle for the 21st century, and has developed the first rehab program based on this.
The 5-Day recovery program at Dream Catcher Retreat is an experiential week that shows how to build chi. Chi opens the doors to potential, possibility and altered states so basing a recovery program on chi makes sense – and, if you follow the lifestyle, it works.
A Great Life After Drugs
Going from drugs to chi, is how you make a drug past work for you and how you have a great life after you quit. Jost’s drug recovery programs give people something to look forward to after drugs. This is the missing link in mainstream recovery.
Quitting drugs or alcohol is the easy part, what happens after that is where it gets hard.
For most people life after drugs or alcohol is all about discomfort, loss, guilt or it’s just plain boring. In this situation cravings will naturally arise and lead to the rehab & relapse cycle, or to low-level depression and never feeling ‘right’ again.
Mainstream rehab programs prepare you for a half-life, to accept wrongdoing, apologise and go back to normal. Jost’s drug recovery programs prepare you for an extraordinary life after drugs. He acknowledges the value of having experienced intensely heightened states. He shows how to keep the journey of discovery going and how to integrate your past and use it for personal development. You will achieve health, happiness and get on track to destiny. This is how recovery becomes an opportunity to improve your life on every level.
A Truly Holistic Program
Plenty of rehabs these days claim to have ‘holistic’ programs. But holistic treatment doesn’t mean doing some yoga, eating some organic food or taking some vitamins, it means finding out who you are and what your purpose is. For those clients who want to go there, Jost’s programs deliver this – it is a truly holistic treatment approach to drug recovery.
It is based on Chinese medicine which has a multi-dimensional worldview, it is both practical and mystical. Jost is an expert in the mystical origins of Chinese medicine. His programs are designed to enable people to quit substances, regain health and wellbeing but, they can also reveal how to recapture altered states and how to go beyond ‘recovery’ and identify the links between drug use and personal destiny. Dream Catcher Retreat is currently the only rehab in the world offering Jost’s extraordinary program.
Professional Expertise
The 5-Day drug recovery program is designed by Jost. So clients benefit from the knowledge of an internationally acknowledged expert in the field of holistic drug recovery. Jost’s books, workshops and treatments have changed the lives of tens of thousands of people.
No 12 Steps – No Judgement
Jost’s drug recovery programs do not follow 12 Step philosophies. Jost doesn’t believe that guilt or shame is productive, he believes that all experiences have value. Focusing on what you got wrong has no therapeutic value. He looks at addiction from the radical perspective of what you got right. This is not pro-drug, but it is not anti-drug either. It progresses from the starting point of repairing physiological and emotional damage regardless of the cause. The program identifies potential positives in past drug experiences and how to make them work for your future. Read more about this in Jost’s book The Rebel’s Guide to Recovery.
